Valid Passport with Visa is required for all visitors. Tourist Visa is to be applied at Myanmar Missions abroad.

ADMISSION RESTRICTIONS:
The Government of Myanmar refuses admission to holders of passports issued by the Government of Taiwan (Rep. of China) if not holding a special affidavit issued by a representative of Myanmar abroad.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Travel to/from Myanmar is only allowed by air or by sea.

Required except for:
National of Myanmar, provided holding a passport or a Seaman Book. Nationals of Myanmar holding certificate of identity issued by the Government of Myanmar are not allowed to re-enter unless holding written authorization by Myanmar consulate, signed by officer not below rank of Third Secretary.
Holders of a re-entry permit issued by Myanmar;
Passengers continuing their journey to a third country by same aircraft without leaving
the airport.

Issue:
For the time begin the issue of visas by consulates will be as follows;
Tourists visas: issued to F.I.T tourists as well as to groups of tourists whose itineraries are
arranged through Myanmar travels and Tours.

Business visas: issued at Myanmar embassies and consulates abroad.

Report of Arrival:


Passengers arriving without a visa, if required, will deported. Children over 7 years mentioned in the passport of a parent must hold a separate visa; A tourist visa and Business visa are valid only for a maximum period of 28 days. The passenger must hold confirmed or onward tickets. A transit visa is valid for a period of 24 hours only. Travel to certain areas in Myanmar is restricted. Entry visa for Myanmar is issued within 24 hours at the Myanmar Embassies and Consulates General abroad. In case of urgency (i.e. within less than 24 hours), there will be extra charges in US$ as follows:

COMPULSORY CURRENCY EXCHANGE:
A minimum of USD 300 has to be changed into local currency on arrival. Any additional currency may be exchanged at the Cash Counters of Myanmar Travels and Tours, hotels and Myanmar Foreign Trade Bank.

RE-ENTRY PERMIT:
Required for alien residents, to be obtained before departure from Myanmar.

How to get a Visa in Bangkok

You need a visa to enter Myanmar before you travel to the country. It's easy to get a Myanmar visa in Bangkok if you know where to go.
Myanmar is one of the few countries in the world where you can't get a visa on arrival in the country. You can’t check in at the airport if you don’t have a Myanmar visa in your passport.

Getting a Myanmar visa in Bangkok is straight forward. Get a taxi or Skytrain to Sathorn Nua Road in the centre of Bangkok. On the Skytrain you get off at the Surasak (Silom Line at S5) stop. Take Exit 3. Walk out through the elevated skywalk and then down the stairs onto Sathorn Nua Road. After exit turn right and walk along the same direction as the traffic on Surasak Road. You will pass 7-11 store and Bangkok Christian College. Walk along Sathorn Nua Road for about four hundred meter. The Embassy of Myanmar is just located just around the corner there, intersection of Sathorn Nua and Thanon Pan.

Once inside, fill in one of the application forms and then submit it at the window along with the appropriate fee. It's around 1000 Baht ($30 US) for a one entry visa - You need to submit the visa application between 9.00am to 12.00 am and 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm (except holidays and week ends). You can collect it next day later or pay a little more and get express service to collect it the same day, but make sure you drop it early in the morning if you want to be sure of this.

Foreign Exchange

It is compulsory, for Foreign Independent Travelers (FITs) to exchange US $ 300. But for their convenience the Central Bank of Myanmar has issued Foreign Exchange Certificates (FECs) in Dollar Units. (for details, see Foreign Exchange Certificates)

Foreign currencies must be change only at authorized Money Changes at the Airport, Hotels, Banks and Myanmar Travels and Tours Offices. American Express, Master and Visa Credit Cards are accepted.

Foreign Exchange Certificates (FECs)

Foreign Exchange Certificates (FECs) are issued by the Central Bank of Myanmar for the convenience of tourists visiting Myanmar.

Foreign Exchange Certificates (FECs) are issued in four dominations:
(1) FEC equivalent to US Dollar Twenty;
(2) FEC equivalent to US Dollar Ten;
(3) FEC equivalent to US Dollar Five;
(4) FEC equivalent to US Dollar One;

The exchange rates of Foreign Exchange Certificates are as follows:
(1) US Dollar (one) Foreign Exchange Certificate (one) unit
(2) Pound Sterling is to be changed at the daily cross rate notified by the banks.
(3) The fractions of the Foreign Exchange Certificates calculated at the daily cross rate will not be exchanged.

Foreign Exchange Certificates can be exchanged at the Banks, the State owned hotels and Myanmar Travels & Tours Exchange Counters and others various authorized stores elsewhere.

It is compulsory for Foreign Independent Traveler (FIT) holding Entry Visa Tourist (EVT) to change on arrival a minimum of US $ 300 or other equivalent acceptable currency with Foreign Exchange Certificates 300 units. This is the minimum amount to be sent by a tourist during his her stay in the country. Any unused Foreign Exchange Certificates out of this amount will not be reconverted. If a tourist has exchanged in excess of US $ 300, any unutilized balance of the Foreign Exchange Certificates will be reconverted at the time of departure on presentation of the "Foreign Exchange Certificates Voucher" at the Exchange Counters.

Payments by Foreign Exchange Certificates shall be deemed to have been made in foreign exchange.

These Foreign Exchange Certificates are acceptable by any person in the Union of Myanmar.

Foreign Exchange Certificates can only be used within the Union of Myanmar.

As a visitor to Myanmar, you will be required to fulfill customs requirements which are important pertaining to entry and departure.

 

All arriving passengers will have to fill up the Passenger's Declaration Form ( PD Form ) CR(819)

FOREIGN EXCHANGE
You may bring in as much foreign currency as you want. However foreign currency exceeding USD 2000 or equivalent taking in by a foreigner/nonresident must be declared on Foreign Exchange Declaration Form (F E D Form)
(a) Foreigners, taking in foreign currencies exceeding USD 2000 need to declare.
(b) Natoinals / Residents, taking in any amount of foreign currency, need to declare.

Do not forget to keep the FED Form. You have to surrender it to customs on your departure.


Any consignment for exportation of gems stones, set or unset, jewellery, silverware, handicraft purchased in Myanmar shall only be allowed against the production of special cash memo or voucher issued by the
